OSHA 30 Certification

Certified Welder

Mike Cobbs has spent his career around machinery, working as a journeyman millwright and general foreman overseeing crews in the field. AIG counts on his leadership to efficiently and effectively manage the millwright crews who get our customers’ systems built and keep them running.

A field superintendent for American Industrial Group, Mike offers that rare combination of technical knowledge, hands-on skills, exemplary safety record and leadership to both run a job and develop individual team members. AIG project managers and customers benefit from his 30-plus years spent in the millwright and rigging trades. He has fabricated parts, built equipment platforms, assembled equipment, and been part of many systems integration teams.

It’s important to know that Mike:

  • Fosters a safety-conscious workplace in the shop and in the field, holding a daily “job box talk” at the start of the workday.
  • Built his skills in industries from power plants and automotive factories to facilities that process grain, pork and beef as well as building materials and chemicals.
  • Embraces the challenge of meeting construction schedules and quality and coaching team members, especially those coming up in the trade.
  • Builds long-term relationships with customers and co-workers.

It’s also worth noting that Mike, who grew up on a Kansas ranch doing every job imaginable as a ranch hand, earned a scholarship competing in the college rodeo world riding bulls and broncos.
